My background is in mental health charity work, and that’s shaped a lot of how I approach things. I’ve spent years building relationships and creating spaces where people feel comfortable enough to open up, talk, and connect. It’s important to me that everyone’s voice is heard and that nobody feels left out, because when people feel valued, incredible things can happen. That’s why I’m so passionate about the work we do at Unity.
I really believe that when a community feels confident and supported, it becomes this unstoppable force for positive change. Too often, people feel isolated or excluded, and that’s something we’re determined to change. We want to build a community that supports itself and makes sure no one is left on the sidelines. That’s what motivates me every day, and it’s such an exciting journey to be a part of.
Outside of work, I love spending time with friends and family. Staying active is important to me too—I lift weights when my body lets me! I’ve also recently gotten into different kinds of crafting, which has been a lot of fun. And honestly, I can’t resist cake and coffee, they’re right at the top of my list. Oh, and a cheeky gin every now and then, especially when someone else is picking up the tab!
I truly believe that when we work together and break down barriers, we build a stronger community. While collaborating with different venues, I’ve seen just how many people and groups are struggling with isolation and loneliness. Unity’s mission is all about creating that hope, making sure we’re providing safe spaces where people can meet, feel connected, and have their voices heard. Since the pandemic, life has left a lot of people feeling cut off, and the world can seem like an unsafe place. That’s why it’s more important than ever to offer these spaces where the community can come together and feel safe.
