Most of my life I have lived in Coventry, seeing the city evolve over the last 20+ years has been nothing but exceptional, however the LGBTQIA+ community has always had to fight to be seen and heard.
I started my journey the day The Yard opened back in 2017, working as a bartender and building relations with the wider community whilst I was doing my course of American Studies in Portsmouth, focusing in on the mistreatment of the LGBTQIA+ in the US since the 1980s
During this time I was given the opportunity to live and work in the heart of it all in Washington D.C., working for a non-profit organisation assisting lawyers and activists with cases across the community.
After living in London the last few years, I took the opportunity to move back to Coventry for work and join Unity in Coventry in the hopes of using my experience across a range of fields and knowledge to better the lives of the LGBTQIA+ community.
